Mary Ellen Conlon Patichio

Mary

Mary is Virginia and Jim Conlon's first daughter, third child, and my oldest sister.  One of the first memories I have of Mary -- or at least the most remarkable -- is when she was a teenager and danced in our living room to the song "Dancing in the Street" by the Mammas and the Pappas. I remember thinking to myself that I'd never seen anything quite like it, this way of dancing.  The time was the 1960s and a revolution among the country's youth was brewing.  I certainly wasn't aware of societal changes, but my sister's dance filled me with excitement. This was new, this was different, and boy, did I want to be part of it.

Mary is six years older then me.  During my childhood, in some ways, she was out of reach for me.  She was a teenager and didn't want too much to do with her younger sibling.  But times have changed and Mary is very nurturing and a loving older sister. She is a mother of two, with a son Michael Patichio (28) and daughter Sara Patichio (24).  Her husband Frank is still in the picture, although they recently separated.
