Mara Conlon

Mara girl! The princess of Queens!

Mara is my surrogate daughter.  She is the second daughter of my brother Jim and his wife Mary (Doherty) Conlon. Mara is the sister of Juliet Conlon, my first niece. Mara is a very strong woman, although she doesn't realize it yet. She's also a natural beauty, although again, she's not aware of what a knock out she really is. Mara grew up in Milwaukee, but now is out there in the world all on her own living in Queens, New York.

She works as an editor (specializing in young readers), and has published several children's books. Her "Nutcracker" book, released this Christmas (2007) already got a strong review. (Read it here). Mara is creative, introspective, funny, and dear to my heart.

Mara was young when her uncle Mike was sick and she has only a few memories of him.  She wrote a lovely poem about Mike called "Images of You." Read it here.
